When Harald and Rainer Opolka founded the company in 1993, they had little more than a garage, an Atari computer, some tools, a drawing board, and about 1000 German marks as startup capital. Despite these limited resources, they worked tirelessly day in and day out on what would become the first LED flashlight.
A dream that suddenly turned into reality; the company that once started in a garage is now an international flashlight and headlamp manufacturer, unmatched on a global level. With over 1500 employees worldwide, all share the ambition to improve a little every single day. That’s why Ledlenser develops its product portfolio every year. The History of Ledlenser
Ledlenser was originally started by two brothers, Harald and Rainer Opolka from Solingen, who had little more at their disposal than an old Atari computer, a toolbox, a drawing pad, and about 1,000 German marks in startup capital. Today, Ledlenser is an international company and one of the world's market leaders in portable lighting.
In 2000, Ledlenser, based in Germany, conquered the flashlight market by equipping a flashlight with an LED instead of a lightbulb. This was an entirely visionary concept at the time. The "Photon Pump V8" was sold millions of times worldwide and established a new era for portable lighting – the same was achieved by the "P7" a few years later. In 2005, two more milestones were achieved: the development and patenting of the legendary Advanced Focus System and the establishment of the company’s own production facility in Yangjiang, China.
Today, Ledlenser, the LED pioneer, continues to disrupt the market by advancing the technology and quality of our products and expanding the product portfolio for a range of applications – such as explosion-proof lamps, construction floodlights, work lights, lanterns, portable power, and more. All these efforts strengthen Ledlenser’s market leadership position in comparison to competitors.
